You probably already know this but asking someone who’s not a churchgoer to come to church with you, isn’t the easiest thing to do. If they actually accept the invitation, why is it on the Sunday where the pastor decides to preach on tithing or express his political views? That’s why "tables" exist. Imagine this: a game night, a pickleball match, or even a karaoke party, not exactly what you’d call your typical church event, right? These are spaces Christians curate to build friendships, not preach sermons. Think of them as the casual hangouts where authentic connection happens over laughter and fun experiences.
Here’s the thing, these gatherings are not religious. There’s no agenda, no sermon waiting in the wings. Just people being people, finding common ground in things like running clubs or trivia nights. But through these casual gatherings, something deeper can happen. Christians can begin to spot those who are open to more, the spiritually curious. We call them “persons of peace,” actually it’s what Jesus called them in Luke 10.
